Life gives us a knock and this causes a crack to appear, we then turn to alcohol to try and fill the crack and it does for a very short time, but then as always this drains away, so we fill it again and again, we don’t realise that alcohol is corrosive each time we apply the filler and it drains away it makes each crack bigger and deeper until it’s not a crack but a massive hole that we need more and more filler to hide.
What we need to understand is that cracks are inevitable, they come with age, wisdom, love, and use, as on an antique cracks and ware show character, endurance, and usefulness, no one wants an antique full of big holes full of temporary filler and falling apart.
Instead of trying to fill the cracks ourselves and doing a very bad job of it, we need to ask an expert to help preserve the cracks, stop them from getting bigger, even show them off to the world to say,
“I am loved, I am useful”
“My cracks make me different, interesting and wiser”
The expert may fill these cracks to make you stronger, but sympathetically and not so they are fully hidden, that way we remember why the cracks are there.
The expert is your God, your higher power, they don’t fill the cracks with themselves they use a filler that is fit for purpose, this filler is,
“Fellowship, Love, Support, Family, Friends, Serenity, Spirituality, learning, Sharing, and Life”
Life taps with its hammer, a crack starts to show,
We reach for the bottle, a numbing flow.
It fills the brief void, a fleeting disguise,
But ebbs with the morning, and sorrow still lies.
We fill and refill, a desperate plea,
But alcohol's poison, corrosive and free.
Each crack it diminishes, widens the tear,
A chasm demanding a filler more dear.
For cracks are life's lessons, etched deep with each year,
From love and from laughter, from triumph and tear.
Like an heirloom treasured, with wear it's imbued,
A testament to battles bravely pursued.
No collector desires a piece full of holes,
Disguised with cheap filler that crumbles and rolls.
Leave the patching to experts, a wisdom divine,
A higher power's presence, a love to entwine.
Fellowship's warmth, a hand to hold tight,
Love's steadfast embrace, a beacon of light.
Support's gentle hand, a family's embrace,
Friendship's sweet laughter, a comforting space.
Serenity whispers, spirituality's grace,
Learning's expansion, a wisdom's embrace.
Sharing's connection, and life's tapestry grand,
These mend and enhance, not hide in the sand.
Let cracks be a story, a testament true,
Of battles well fought, and love shining through.
With strength from the mending, a spirit reborn,
Whole and authentic, ready for a new morn.
