Easy does it, one day at a time,
First things first, let go and let God.
Think, think, think, keep it simple, sublime.
Act as if, miracles are bestowed.
I can't, He can, I'll let Him decide,
If it works, don't fix, keep coming back.
Stick with the winners, let go of your pride,
Trudge on, sobriety's a lifelong track.
Faith without works is dead, it's true,
Poor me, poor me, pour me another, no more.
To thine own self be true, live in the now,
Turn it over, open the door.
Altered attitudes, a new lease on life,
Nothing's so bad, a drink won't make it right.
We're only as sick as our secrets, no strife,
Be part of the solution, shining bright.
Sponsors, have one, use one, be one,
I can't handle it God, you take over.
Keep an open mind, let the sun,
Shine on your soul, forever and ever.
More will be revealed, intuitively know,
Be amazed, no pain, no gain, go for it.
Keep the plug in the jug, let it grow,
Do it sober, let it begin, admit.
Sober 'n' crazy, pass it on, it's in the book,
You either are or you aren't, try before you quit.
Some of us are sicker, we're all in the hook,
Alcoholism's a destroyer, a terrible pit.
Practice gratitude, the road's simple, yet long,
God is never late, have a good day.
Decisions aren't forever, right or wrong,
It takes time, 90 meetings, a new way.
Where you go, there you are, don't drink, don't think,
Use the 24-hour plan, telephone therapy.
Stay sober for yourself, don't drink at the brink,
Look for similarities, not disparity.
Remember your last drunk, incurable, progressive, and fatal,
Try not to place conditions, follow directions.
Count your blessings, share your happiness, grateful,
Respect anonymity, share your pain, corrections.
Replace guilt with gratitude, what goes around, comes around,
Change is a process, not an event, take the cotton out.
Call your sponsor, sick and tired, sound the trumpet, resound,
It's the first drink that gets you drunk, no doubt.
To keep it, give it away, man's extremity, God's opportunity,
The price for serenity is self-sacrifice, one alcoholic to another.
Take what you can use, leave the rest, what if, yeah but, if only,
Help is a phone call away, around AA or in AA, another brother.
You can't give away what you don't have, one drink is too many,
Half measures availed us nothing, anger is one letter away.
Courage to change, easy does it, but do it,
Bring the body, the mind will follow, every day.
Accept your admission, remember when, tighten up financially,
We're gifted people, 12 steps to sobriety, fear is a darkroom.
Engage your mind, I want what I want, no chemical solution,
AA is a way of life, positive about our drinking pollution.
Spirituality is getting our minds off ourselves, faith is action,
Take the mess to your sponsor, the message to the meeting.
If I think, I won't drink, if I drink, I can't think,
Stay in the main tent, out of the sideshow, it's fleeting.
The first step is admitting mistakes, don't try to please everyone,
Sorrow is looking back, worry is looking around.
Willpower is willingness to use a Higher Power,
AA is an education, don't let your head swell, confound.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step,
GOD is Good Orderly Direction, be enthusiastic.
Receive without cost, give without charge, our acceptance,
Trying to pray is praying, get it, give it, grow in it.
We're responsible for the effort, not the outcome,
It's a selfish program, EGO is Edging God Out.
Keep sobriety first, I drank too much, too often, too long,
AA will work if you want it, open your mind, devout.
Alcoholism tells you you're all right, turn it over, let go,
An AA meeting is where losers talk about winnings,
We're all learners and teachers, God taught us to laugh,
Serenity is peace amid the storm, AA may not solve problems, but it's willing.
The task ahead is never as great as the Power behind us,
Seven days without a meeting makes one weak,
You're not required to like it, just do it,
We carry the message, not the alcoholic.
The results are in God's hands, we're spiritual beings,
Remember nothing is going to happen you and God can't handle,
Your turn in the barrel, watch those who don't slip,
If we knew which drink would cause wet brain, we'd stop.
We can't forget our troubles like we forget our blessings,
Be careful what you pray for, the time to attend is when you least feel like going.
I've been sober and drunk, sober's better,
AA is the highest priced club, enjoy the benefits.
The will of God will never take you where grace won't protect,
Your Big Book is your sponsor, AA opened the gates of hell,
The only thing we take is what we gave away,
Time wasted in getting even can't be used in getting ahead.
Some AA's are so successful, they're almost as good as they thought,
Sobriety delivers everything alcohol promised,
Possibilities and miracles are one, get out of the driver's seat,
HOW is Honesty, Open-mindedness, Willingness.
Taking others' inventory, first we stayed sober because we had to,
Slogans are wisdom written in shorthand, active alcoholics take hostages,
Every day is a gift, if you find a path with no obstacles, it doesn't lead anywhere.
Every recovery began with one sober hour, we had to quit playing God,
Don't compare, identify, don't intellectualise, utilise,
Rule 62: don't take yourself seriously, AA has a wrench for every nut.
Living in the here and now, how does one become an old-timer?
AA spoils your drinking, faith is our greatest gift,
If you want to drink, that's your business, if you want to quit and can't, that's AA's business,
My worst day sober is better than my best day drunk.
The elevator is broken, use the Steps, let it begin with me,
The directions are in the Big Book, trust God, clean house, help others,
Anonymity is half our name, if we don't grow, we gotta go,
All you need is a resentment and a coffee pot.
Religion is for those who fear Hell, spirituality is for those who've been there,
Intolerance is contempt, prior to investigation,
If I serve, I will be served, the disease is alcoholism, not alcoholWASm,
The AA way of life is bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions.
The smartest thing an AA member can say is help,
You are exactly where you are supposed to be,
God will never give you more than you can handle,
Slow but sure, a coincidence is a miracle.
There is no such thing as a bad meeting, give time time,
I can do something for 24 hours that would appal me for a lifetime,
My control is limited to my own behaviour, my own attitudes,
AA works for people who believe in God, and for people who don't.
AA never works for people who believe they ARE God,
I will live through this day only,
And that’s all I can do………..
