Charged by Fellowship

It is written that God made us in His likeness, and for me, that means each and every one of us carries a divine spark within us. This spark, however small, is a piece of something infinite—a connection to a greater power beyond our individual selves. Yet, like a single ion bouncing between positive and negative electrodes, that spark alone is fragile, solitary, and easily lost. I think of it as a God Ion, a tiny but powerful charge of divine energy within each of us. But just like a lone ion, it cannot create true power on its own—it needs movement, interaction, and connection to truly shine.

Just as a battery cannot generate energy without both electrodes and a path for electrons to flow, we too require fellowship to awaken our full potential. When we come together, sharing our lives, experiences, joys, and struggles, our individual God Ions unite. We become something greater than we ever could alone, forming a current of love, strength, and hope. This is the essence of fellowship—something fundamental not just to AA but to the very nature of our existence. Alone, we are sparks, but together, we create light.

Yesterday, I spent the day celebrating this sacred connection with my fellow Sunrise AA family—the co-owners of that spark, that God Ion. In that room, the energy was so powerful it became tangible. It wasn’t just a feeling—it was something real, something alive, something greater than the sum of its parts. The presence of love and support created a force that could be felt in the air, a warmth that needed no explanation because it was simply there, shared among us all. Each of us carried our own God Ion, and together, we became a force of spiritual electricity, lighting up the room.

This is the same power I feel each morning after an hour spent on Zoom with that same AA family. Across screens, across distances, the energy remains unchanged. The connection is still real because it is built on something deeper than physical presence—it is built on faith, honesty, and a shared purpose. Alone, our God Ion may flicker, struggling against the currents of life, but when we come together, we create a circuit strong enough to carry us through even the darkest moments.

Without love, without friendship, without fellowship, our energy fades. But when we choose to connect, when we embrace the power of unity, we become part of something divine. Just as a battery only works when all its parts function together, so too do we find our purpose when we lean on each other. In that unity, in that shared God Ion, we find not just survival but true, abundant life.

In Us All

The likeness, they say, a spark resides.
A God Ion, small, yet infinite tides.

Alone, a flicker, a fragile thing,
bouncing, lost, no charge to bring.

But join the currents, the fellowship's flow,
where sparks unite, and true lights grow.

Like a battery, two poles aligned,
a path for the flow, a strength defined.

Sunrise family, a sacred space,
God Ions meeting, grace upon grace.

Tangible power, a presence felt,
beyond the sum, where spirits melt.

Zoom's distant screen, the same fire burns,
faith, honesty, the soul returns.

The circuit formed, against life's dark,
a current strong, leaving its mark.

Without love's weave, energy wanes,
a solitary ion, in endless pains.

But unity's embrace, the divine's design,
a battery whole, where purposes entwine.

Abundant life, in shared God Ion's gleam,
not just survival, but a living dream.

And after the meeting in person that created these thoughts I wrote this ❤️

🌞Sunrise Family, Unscreened🌞

The screen, a year's proxy, a grid of beautiful faces,
your sunrise family, framed in small boxes,
a chorus of "good mornings" echoing from distant rooms.

Today, the virtual dissolves.

Flesh and blood, warm hands, real eyes,
the weight of a hug, not just a digital embrace,
a solid presence, tangible, undeniable.

The church, a vessel of shared breath,
ten minutes of silence, a collective exhale,
the hum of unspoken understanding,
a stillness that vibrates with shared history.

Laughter, no longer witnessed through headphones,
but a full-bodied release, a wave crashing,
strength, not projected, but radiating,
a tangible force, a shield against the ghosts.

The shares, raw and honest, unfiltered,
stories woven into a cloak of resilience,
each voice a thread, vibrant and true.

And that song, my heart ripped open,
a melody that bypassed the mind,
a direct strike to the core,
ribs expanding, lungs filling with truth,
eyes leaking, not with sadness, but release,
a cleansing flood of gratitude,
for this, this tangible, real, sunrise family,
finally, in the light.
What a beautiful day ❤️
