Earlier today, I watched a film with my dad. The final line, “Just because you don’t see the air, it doesn’t stop you breathing, so not seeing shouldn’t stop you believing!” resonated with me. It sparked a thought about the countless things that exist, yet remain invisible to the naked eye.
We live in a world filled with unseen wonders. From the subatomic particles that make up matter to the vast expanse of the universe, there are countless phenomena that defy our senses. We rely on scientific theories, expert opinions, and historical accounts to understand these invisible realities. We trust that electrons orbit atomic nuclei, that dark matter permeates the cosmos, and that gravity waves ripple through spacetime.
While we may not directly perceive these things, their existence is supported by empirical evidence and logical reasoning. We accept these concepts as fact, often without question. This reliance on trust and belief is a fundamental aspect of human knowledge. We trust that the Earth is round, that the sun will rise each morning, and that the laws of physics will remain consistent.
In a way, our understanding of the world is a delicate balance between empirical observation and faith. While we may not see the air, we feel its presence and experience its effects. Similarly, while we may not directly observe the unseen forces that shape our reality, we can infer their existence through their manifestations. As we continue to explore the frontiers of knowledge, we must maintain a healthy scepticism while also embracing the power of belief.
Given the vast expanse of the unseen, it’s curious that many humans struggle with the concept of a higher power, a God. This divine entity, often shrouded in mystery, can be interpreted in countless ways. It can be a personal God, a cosmic force, or a universal consciousness. The beauty of faith lies in its flexibility; it can adapt to individual beliefs and cultural traditions.
Yet, despite this adaptability, many find it challenging to reconcile the existence of a higher power with the observable world. The invisible nature of such a being can make it difficult to grasp, leading to scepticism and doubt. However, the universe is teeming with invisible forces and entities. From the subatomic particles that govern the behaviour of matter to the dark energy that propels the expansion of the cosmos, the unseen is a fundamental part of our reality.
Perhaps the true challenge lies not in the existence of a higher power, but in our limited understanding of it. By clinging to rigid definitions and dogmatic beliefs, we may be hindering our ability to connect with something greater than ourselves. If we can approach the concept of God with an open mind and a willingness to explore different perspectives, we may discover a deeper meaning and purpose in our lives.
Unseen Truths
A whisper caught, a fleeting thought,
A film's last line, a seed is wrought.
Invisible air, a silent breath,
A universe unseen, a cosmic death.
Dark matter's dance, a hidden sway,
Quantum realms, a mystic play.
We trust the unseen, a leap of faith,
A world beyond, a future's wraith.
A higher power, a mystery's guise,
A God unseen, a cosmic prize.
Belief's embrace, a hopeful sigh,
A universe of wonder, soaring high.
