If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?
If I were to open a shop, it would undoubtedly be a cosy coffee and milkshake haven, a perfect blend of the warmth of Central Perk from Friends and the nostalgic charm of Al’s from Happy Days. The ambience would be a mix of vintage and modern, with comfy couches and retro diner booths, inviting people to sit back and relax. The menu would feature an array of delicious beverages—rich, aromatic coffees, creamy, indulgent milkshakes, and a variety of teas. But that’s just the beginning. Our food offerings would cater to every palate, with both sweet and savoury treats ranging from freshly baked pastries and decadent cakes to hearty sandwiches and light salads.
What would truly set this coffee shop apart is its commitment to being a tech-free zone. In a world dominated by screens and constant connectivity, my shop would be a sanctuary where patrons can disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the people around them. No phones, laptops, or tablets would be allowed inside, creating a space where conversation and human interaction take centre stage. It’s about encouraging people to be fully present, to engage in meaningful conversations, and to enjoy the simple pleasure of a good drink and good company without the distractions of modern technology.
To enhance the atmosphere, there would be an old-style jukebox in the corner, filled with a curated selection of chilled, relaxing, and inspirational tunes. The music would be just the right volume—not too loud, but loud enough to set the mood and create a soothing background for conversation. The aim would be to foster a space where everyone feels welcome and comfortable, where strangers become friends, and where people can talk honestly, without fear of judgment or resentment. It’s about creating an environment where real connections can happen, and where everyone is encouraged to be themselves.
This coffee shop would be more than just a place to grab a drink; it would be a refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It would be a place where people can slow down, savour the moment, and be fully present with those around them. Whether it’s catching up with an old friend, meeting someone new, or simply enjoying some quiet time with a delicious coffee or milkshake, this shop would be all about creating moments of genuine connection and joy. It would be a reminder of the importance of community, of being there for one another, and of taking the time to truly connect in a world that often feels disconnected.
Sanctuary
A haven of warmth, a vintage embrace,
Central Perk's soul in a modern space.
Al's diner charm, a nostalgic gleam,
A coffee shop dream, a perfect scene.
Couches inviting, booths oh so sweet,
Aromas of coffee, a sensory treat.
Milkshakes creamy, pastries so fine,
A menu for all, a delightful design.
But more than just food, a digital free zone,
A sanctuary of silence, a peaceful known.
No screens to distract, no endless scroll,
Just human connection, heart and soul.
Jukebox melodies, a gentle hum,
Conversations flowing, spirits become.
A place to belong, to laugh, to share,
To build connections, to truly care.
Beyond coffee and cake, a purpose so deep,
A refuge from worries, a place to reap.
Moments of joy, of friendship's embrace,
A reminder of kindness, in life's busy pace.
