Recently, I have been immersing myself in a variety of new life skills. While these skills may seem simple on the surface, they have truly been transformative, making me feel like a completely different person. In fact, I can confidently say that I have become a new version of myself.
In the past, I struggled to manage the demands of life. I often felt overwhelmed by strong emotions and responsibilities. When fear began to creep in and cloud my thoughts, I would turn to alcohol to drown out the noise in my mind. This cycle was exhausting and unfulfilling.
Now, as I focus on learning and mastering new skills, I’m already experiencing significant benefits in my journey as a recovering alcoholic. The skills I am developing include faith, humility, gratitude, forgiveness, resilience, self-awareness, and, most importantly, the ability to confront my fears directly. By practicing these skills every day, I can only imagine how far I can go on this path of growth and recovery. Each small step is leading me toward a more empowered and fulfilling life.
Simple but Brilliant
Recently, I’ve been immersed in new life’s art,
Simple skills, yet transformative to my heart.
A different person, reborn, I can see,
A newer version, stronger, but still me.
Once, I struggled, overwhelmed by life’s demands,
Strong emotions, fears, a heavy, leaden hand.
Alcohol, a crutch, to drown out inner strife,
A cycle endless, draining, void of life.
Now, I focus, learn and master, grow,
As a recovering soul, my spirit’s glow.
Faith, humility, gratitude, I find,
Forgiveness, resilience, peace of mind.
Self-awareness, courage, facing fears with might,
Each day I practice, reaching for the light.
On this path of growth, I’ll journey far,
Empowered, fulfilled, a shining, trail blazer.
